Today there are indeed few words because there is so much work to be done. Honestly, I’m a little overwhelmed. And I have no one to blame but myself.
I tend to procrastinate. There I said it. I’d like to say that I simply work better that way, under pressure and all. But that’s not true. If anything I do a shoddier job on things when I allow the work to build up.
Today the laundry is piled high, my desk is somewhere under a stack of unfinished projects, I’m behind in my daily read-the-Bible-through reading, my list of errands has “been continued” on the back side of the page, and the bathrooms are starting to grow stuff. So I guess it’s a good thing Wednesdays are not so wordy! Of course, I’d rather sit here and pontificate about nothing in particular than tackle the unfolded clothes or the soap scum on the shower doors.
But, alas, I made the mistake of blogging about keeping your home in order last Thursday, so I’m feeling a little pressure to buckle down and get to work. I suppose that is a good thing.
So I leave you with a couple of easy-peasy questions today. Since you happened to drop by while I’m folding clothes, ironing and scrubbing bathrooms, let’s talk housework.
- What’s your least favorite household cleaning task?
- What’s the worst part about doing laundry? Washing and drying, folding, ironing, or putting the stuff away?
- Do you have a favorite household chore? This may be a stretch, but I feel I ought to ask for the sake of ending on a positive note. What one job is either a real thrill to you or at least gives you a great sense of satisfaction when it’s all said and done?
Here are my answers:
- By far, cleaning the bathrooms. Yuck! It’s such a wet job!
- Definitely putting the clothes away. I usually make my family members do their own because I hate this job so much. Besides it’s good for them. By the way, my kids often do their own laundry, but I’m giving them a reprieve for a couple of weeks, thus the huge mounds I’m wrestling with today.
- I do love the results of freshly vacuumed floors and I don’t mind vacuuming so much either.
It would make me feel so much better to hear you whine a little too. Won’t you join me? But you can end on a positive note by answering #3.
Thanks for dropping by today. I’m a little suspicious of my friends who only drop by on Not So Wordy Wednesdays… But I’ll try not to let it hurt my feelings!
Oh, I do so HATE housework…..it makes me very grumpy! To answer your questions, though:
1. cleaning the kitchen
2. putting the laundry away….which is why we live out of baskets half the time
3. I like vacuuming also and I like the way the ONE rug in my house looks after it's done. For us, it's sweeping and mopping all of these hardwood floors…..but, then I'm back to what I hate.
Have a wonderful Wednesday!!
Oh Kay- I know just how you feel. When I get overwhelmed it seems to make it even harder to get anything done!
Just do something little. That is how I get back on track. It starts me moveing in the right direction.
My least favorite chore is scrubbing my kitchen floor. It hurts to get on my knees for too long.
I don't mind doing laundry- there are other chores that take it's place. Like putting away groceries. I love to plan, cook, and grocery shop but for some reason I would pay someone to put my groceries away.
What I love the best… once something is clean and the deep satisfaction I feel!
Thanks for this reality check.
Yvonne
Hi Kay!
I'm reading your post this afternoon {with my feet up} – relaxing with coffee even though it's hot… I have lots and lots "catch up" to do! My second floor classroom was at 93 degrees most of the day … phew… so glad to be home near a fan!
Grateful for a few moments to relax before I get after the clutter… my answer to #1.
I'm also with Yvonne about putting away groceries… I guess that would be tied for #1.
My favorite chore is washing pretty dishes. I don't seem to mind that :o)
Thanks for reminding me that there is JOY in the journey ~
Blessings to you * Maria
Housework = Blech. Hate.it.
1) Bathrooms. So nasty. And I have all boys…makes it eleventy thousand times worse.
2) I'll wash clothes all day long…but the clean ones live in baskets. Hate to put away.
3) I despise any chore, but the one I'll do without too much grumbling is the dishes. Don't mind those as much. And a clean kitchen makes me smile.
Are we on the same wavelength here. I feel like since I started blogging all of my free time is spent on the computer and as I looked around my desk I realized I have too many piles. It does feel better knowing others do the same thing. OK I am going to answer your questions. My least favorite cleaning task is cleaning the shower. Ugh
When doing laundry I think folding is my least favorite. My favorite household chore is setting the table and cooking. When my husband retired about a year ago, he told me that he would do the dishes if I would never ask him to cook. That is my pleasure. I think he really didn't know what a mess I make when I cook…ha. But what a blessing that has been.
1. Laundry – I hate laundry! It's a daunting task that *NEVER* ends. I wash for our family of six… it's so redundant!
2. THe wrost part is folding… and everything that comes after it! 😉
3. I like cleaning the kitchen – it is uaully a "quick fix" and I feel like all of life is under control when the kitchen's clean. Even if it's in terrible shape, an hour tops is all I need to get it back to sparklign clean! (now if I could jsut get my kids to keep it that way!)
I must confess that from time to time my husband and I will talk each other into eating out just so we dont haev to mess up the kitchen!
But in all this the Lrod reminds me: BE THANKFUL! Thankful for a washer, that it;s not by hand; thankful for clothes TO wash; thankful for food enough to eat and dirty the kitchen!
I'll help you fold yours if you'll hep with mine!

PS I msut confess that cleaning can make me grumpy… after I work so hard I get mad when my four chidlren come behind and undo it all! Aaarrggg!
1. Bathrooms – I'm with you on the whole "wet" thing AND I have three boys…need I say more?
2. Matching Socks – UUGGHH!
3. I LOVE groceries. From planning 2 weeks menus, shopping, putting away, and making meals, love it all!
Housework….it's just not my spiritual gift. It must be a spiritual thing because it's such a battle for me. I hate cleaning the bathrooms. Especially my college girls, I have no idea what they do up there, but it's pretty disgusting. The sock thing gets me too. Why can't the people in my life take them off and put them in the laundry basket together. I guess it's because they don't even put them in the laundry basket. I fish them out from under the covers. I do enjoy cleaning my closet when I have to change seasons. It always looks so nice and organized when finished.
Keep up the good work but remember, the feeling of satisfaction in house cleaning is highly overrated!
