I do hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving. I overheard my husband on the phone just a few minutes ago (on Friday evening) wishing someone a “Happy Thanksgiving!” I chuckled to myself and thought about he was a little behind. But then again, it doesn’t hurt to be thankful every day, does it?
This year I’m especially thankful for people. In fact, I guess people always top my list. I’m so grateful for my family — all the way around, from my parents and brother to my husband to my children to my in-laws! I just have a wonderful family — strange and dysfunctional and quirky as anyone else’s, but belovedly, blissfully, beautifully perfect for me.
I’m also thankful for good friends: friends of days gone by who still keep in touch, friends who live too many miles away for my comfort, friends who have come and gone over the years but always left their marks, friends who do so much for me, friends who speak truth into my life, and friends who I’ll see again in heaven. I have some mighty good people in my life. And I’m also thankful for you, my blog friends. Cyber friends, I guess we call ourselves. What crazy world we live in where we can strike up meaningful friendships we’ve people we’ve never laid eyes on or heard their voices. Amazing!
And I’m very thankful for people I have yet to meet, but plan to encounter in the next 12 months. I have the thrill of speaking to women’s groups from coast to coast and on the other side of the world in the next six months. Can you believe it? In just a couple of weeks I’ll be in Wilmington, NC, speaking to around 900 ladies dressed in the holiday best. Then in February I get to lead two groups of women through a Satisfied at Last conference weekend — one group in Seattle and one in Tucson. And in March I fly to Okinawa, Japan to visit with some of our country’s finest — a group of military wives serving their country in the Pacific. And I cannot wait to meet them all!
So yes, Happy Thanksgiving — yesterday, today and tomorrow. We have a lot to be thankful for.
Shelly will be receiving a free copy of my new devotional guide, A Taste of Satisfaction. Congratulations Shelly, and I hope you enjoy the book. I’ll get it to you as soon as my shipment comes in!
